Have you heard whether those Oakleaf classes are any good? <g>

Thanks for letting me know - I'm sure you're right about the training companies. It amazes me how little the existing .Net literature talks about business objects. Even the supposed n-tier folks rarely mention business objects. They seem to be capturing the rules in the data access layer.

I may take you up on your offer - but not quite yet sure. The problem with training classes is that you sign up for them, but then you have to wait a couple of months to start using the stuff. I'm going to keep plugging away on my own for a while. I've got a pretty decent grip on ADO.Net, and since I've been using C# to learn it, my C# is at the intermediate level. I think by Sept. I'll have the basics of Webforms, ASP.Net, and hopefully security - enough at least to start develop some non-mission-critical apps.

Here's what I've gotten out of the past couple of Whilfests:
1) Architecture (i.e. n-tier) concepts. For .Net, this means what to use for business objects, how to bind them to webforms, etc.
2) Methodology concepts (though to be honest, I'm an XP/Crystal convert and we're trying to turn into an XP/Crystal shop - Whilfest hasn't touched on these cutting edge methodologies)
3) Tips and Tricks and best practices and shortcuts and the like.

I'm guessing that your classes are focused on newbies, and I'm hoping that by Sept., I'm no longer a newbie. Is that an accurate assessment (about your classes, not about my skills)?

Finally, you're right about MM and my being a total convert to biz objects. You showed me the light!

Finally finally, I need to throw in a little jab. Wouldn't it be nice if there was an MM for VFP 8?

Take care,

David
