The resource file is the repository of VFP development environment info, such as the position of the various forms ( windows ) that you use while developing your applications. In addition, such nice items as remembering the last line in the PRG or other text type file you have editted. Since your forms are not recorded by VFP in the resource file, and since its use is limited to the first user in a multi-user environment ( try running a second iteration of VFP on your machine and notice how none of the fonts, form positions, row positioning etc does not have effect in the second iteration, only the first ), we have not distributed FOXUER.DBF to our users. What happens however, is that VFP recreates FOXUSER.DBF if it is not present when the first user runs a VFP app without FOXUSER.DBF in his/her path. To prevent VFP from creating the resource file, include the line: 'RESOURCE = OFF' in the CONFIG.FPW ( why isn't this CONFIG.VFP? ) file. You can hide the CONFIG.FPW file by including it in your project(s), under "Other" tab, "text files" branch. Thus, you can eliminate the existance of the resource file at your user sites, but I certainly wouldn't eliminate it from your own development environment. ( well, I have done that, but only when I switched from FPW to VFP, and had hundreds of entries that I felt were slowing me down -- remember FPW and VFP both "grow a new tail when the old one is cut off, like a skink", i.e. FOXUSER.DBF will automatically be recreated for you and begin accumulating information about your development activities. [ There, now you probably have more than you really wanted to know about the resource file, hope it helps ]. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> > >Hi Robin, > >Yes my users does have a foxuser.dbf on his hard disk, though I don't think it's in this new apps directory, but I supposed it could be pathed to it somehow by the -C parameter or Set foxproCFG in the autoexec.bat or something. > >I've always been annoyed by the foxuser.* files in the first place to be honest. What are the pros and cons of not including it? Or, what will not including the foxuser.dbf file do to me? -Rick > > >>Does your user have FOXUSER.DBF in 2.x format? Suggest avoiding the resource file for "users" by including RESOURCE=OFF in CONFIG.FPW which you can distribute inside your APP.
