Now that idea I like! I hate the ones (as mentioned) where they ask you questions to help debug their current problem but then they end up not only not hiring you (after you've fixed their problem) but not hiring anyone. I tried to get our 'powers that be' to do a 'test' (and we actually did for a short period) when I was working for the government. We got in some good people that way. After a few months though the union said we couldn't do it anylonger because the questions were not approved through the system. By the time questions could be approved through the entire system, everyone knew the answers! It was worthless from that point on.

>>My favorite interviews are where they ask you a few technical questions and by the 2nd question you realize they are asking you to help them debug something they are working on.

>I actually did that once. We were hiring for a Net Admin/IT position and when the lead candidate came for his 2nd interview we were having trouble getting a PCMCIA card to work with the boss' notebook. So I handed it to him and said "here, make this work". He did, and he got the job.
