To the best of my knowledge Sysops are the only way to close a thread.
I hope that you have decided to stick around and make use of the knowledge that is here. I'm sorry that things got started out so bad for you. I've seen a lot of place to get information about fox on the web and otherwise, but answers come the quickest and best here.
