David,
Thanks for the hint on video acceleration. I will check it out.

When I preview a report in the preview screen the report page bleeds thru to the end of the page and the resize control has to be reset to correct it. Researching this I found that this is a known bug in VFP but, come on, I work in Crystal Report 9.0 all day long, graphs, long text fields, RTF and no graphic problems.

BUT in VFP display problems plaque the product. They make it look to the user as if it is a second rate product. A MSFT after thought. VFP is a great product it is a shame to let the end user (not the programmer) think less of the product because the screen does not refresh correctly.

Yes, by the way we do automate the interface Crystal to VFP. For our ad-hoc reporting needs we are trying to use Doug Hennig's powerful but, from the end-user perspective, very easy to build reports engine called Stonefield Query developer edition. Great product.

Unfortunately for Doug all his effort is sometimes projected in a bad light because of the clumsyness of the VFP Report Writer. No integration to the data dictionary captions, not object oriented, methods and properties of the engine can not be accessed directly, clumsy screen interface, no DISTINCT SUMs, COUNTS, etc..........

In fact, Mindseye's (Rich Simpson one guy coding on nights and weekends) report engine is being used by Stonefield Query for preview and print. This product almost (he is close and continues the effort) gives everything that MSFT VFP report previewer and print engine does not. Automated creation of Adobe docs, bar coding (no fonts download needed), email (smtp or mapi), up to 1200% zoom, fast rendering, Find, screen renders correctly, etc etc etc. How is it that one guy with focus put out a product that is 200% better than the entire VFP development team at MSFT? I guess I answered my own question.

>>Display issues have plagued fox and VFP since its inception. Yes, I know cheap video drivers are part of the problem but come on. What is with VFP 7.0's screen resizing having such a profound glitch? How did this part of VFP 7.0 get out of quality control?
