Aha, XP. That makes much more sense now. Since we've gone to XP/Win2K, and though everyone likes this environment better than NT, we have experienced very similar things. Especially when printing, there is often a fairly long hang under XP, and sometimes when trying to delete server files, a PC will just sit there and do nothing, and we have to do a 2nd delete attempt to get it to work.

Sound familiar?

I don't recall ever seeing the error message you're getting (but we don't use much Novell, maybe that's just a slight difference where MS products just sit idle and don't give the Novell-environment error message), but it sure sounds like the same type of thing.

Our top techs just say that the XP delays are a "trade-off" for some XP/Win2K benefits - and I tend to agree - the upside of XP/Win2K is that large server file transfers are just incredibly faster than under the NT environment.

Though, if anyone has a way to improve the XP/Win2K occasional delete slowness, I'd love to hear about it.
