Some pictures are printed size 2x3 on 6x4 paper. Others print the entire photo paper but you can only see top of the head of the person. And so on.

I got something where I didn't expect it - bought a HP Inkjet 920cvr printer, and the PhotoSmart printing app which comes with it is more than good enough. It probably uses its own internal knowledge of the printer, but then I don't really care how it works. It works fine.

It comes with a bunch of predefined layouts, and you can define your own. Very simple, yet versatile, and with good results. Of course, the result mostly depend on the quality of the picture itself and the paper.
