Ok, here is the concept, there are two drop down boxes that can select items from the table, ie one for first name, another for last name. There is also a list that has last name, first name, city ect on it. When the user selects a record via any of these meathods(simply clicking on them selects the record) the entire form refreshes itself so that all the information on it deals with the selected last name or first name. Now, for the purpose of learning i introduced a child table, that is linked to the parent throught a unqiue ID field. When a user selects a record by any of the meathods mentioned, nothing happens to the field that is being drawn out of the field related to the child table. All the other fields in the table refresh themselves with the correct information pertaining to the selected record. The part that really baffels me is that the field does contain a value, but it doesnt update. Maybe I'm just missing a command in the form that updates everything, and not just things from the parent table. I know that the form is working right because i have an identical field(in content, not name) that is in the parent table, and it changes its value. Obviously, the tables are linking to some extent since it can pull that initial value from it. The question is, are they linked properly. I followed the ideas that were mentioned in previous answers to this question and they seemed to have no change on the problem.
I'm just wondering, but what do u do to make the crows feet appear on the relational diagram of the two tables? I have tried everything, and nothing will make them appear.I know that this means it most likely isnt properly linking the tabels.
