If the system is not client-server, remote networking will probably brings things to a crawl. I say this because, for instance, to access a record in a DBF, the entire DBF will have to be sent through the phone line. With remote access software, just the screen information is sent through the phone line.

We have used ProComm Plus' Rapid Remote a little bit. It seems fines. We were actually quite impressed with the speed. One thing to verify is that you set the number of colours displayed down to a minimum.

>>Hi all,

>>In DOS we use Carbon Copy or CloseUp to support our customers remotely from our office. Is there any software that provide similar functionality for VFP5 apps.? I have tried PC Anywhere but the speed is very undesirable. I'm using dialup line and 33.6 spped modem. Please anyone give me some suggestions and price if possible.

Of course, we refine at the office, recompile and send via email, ICQ or PC Anywhere, so we don't actually have to be online with PC Anywhere for very long. I think you're going to find that any Windows remote control software is going to be much slower than the DOS products. Perhaps you can use Remote Networking instead, which (in theory, I've never used it) will hang the remote drives off of your computer like additional network drives. I imagine the processing goes on at your station, and I have heard it's faster. If they (your clients) have to be watching you, though, suggest they get faster modems.
