Re your scales reading from COM port.

This is not as simple as it seems. I have many years experience in reading different scales thru the COM port.

Each scale outputs a different string. The scale can be configured to output :

1. with/without crrriage ret and linefeed
2. No of decimals
3. pounds or KG
3. Stable wt or not

these and other options may be programmed into the scale and each manufacturer has his own string.

I have a class that will read a string from a table (this allows you to input the correct string) and will spit out the weight for you, whether sytable or not, kg or pounds etc.
