Well it helps if you have a new computer on the other end of the power cord(s). Got so frustrated last night I went down to CompUSA and bought a new Sony. I wasted too many billable hours yesterday trying to get VFP8 to work on my old computer, and thought it would be easier to just get a new one. The frustration made the sales job on my wife a little easier.
VFP8 works fine now and the billing lamp is lit.
Segey - As always thanks for all your help on this board. Sorry for pulling your leg.
