This is correct, I am referring to VFP internal buffers.

I believe this is applicable, but there is no guaranty that the records to be read are kept in OS cash.
Also, the minimal supported value for SET REFRESH is 1 second, if your computer is fast enough, it is possible to significantly change index during half of this time.
