It depends if your looking for Speed or Ease of updating. Putting the EXE on the file server gives one location to update but depending on your network capacities will be slower. Putting the exe on the local PC's will allow for faster execution and allow you to update the network master copy of the exe when ever you want. The trick is, pushing the updated exe to your local PC's. After all, you want your users using the most current copy.
