Just for a benefit of someone who is following the thread, I found a Panel a more suitable control for my application. I understand that PlaceHolder is used mainly to add controls dynamically at run-time. I want to add controls at design time and just keep them invisible and then visible if certain condition is met. Panel seems to work well for that (in a little test I just did).
