SMTP Servers only return messages if a delivery fails, not if they succeed. The server is under the assumption the message delivery will succeed and work on a fail notification basis. If you want to know if the mail server itself accepts the message then you may want to use a control that provides more information about the server interaction. I don't know if CDO is any different but maybe it has some sort of success notification but I assume that would only be to let you know it was sent to the SMTP server successfully.
>Does anybody know how to get a delivery status notification back using CDO with a SMTP server. I've set the DSNOptions property of the CDO.message object to 4 (Returns a delivery status notification if delivery succeeds) and haven't been able to get any notifications back to my sending email address.
