Cause of bizarre label behavior?

I've found what I would describe as a work around to a problem and am hoping someone can explain why the problem would happen.

I am working with a label form for 6 to a page laser labels with a preprinted company logo.

The address lines are OK on some labels on some sheets. On other labels on same sheets they will (as a nice neat group) appear in completely different positions as much as 2 " higher than the one next to it.

I've tried switching to different printers and there is no difference in behavior. Tag fields are empty.

Switching from top to bottom or left to right makes no difference.

I am specifying "remove line if blank".

I realized the problem occurred when there was just a company name and no person or title. If I added data in those fields the labels properly aligned. It's as if I said "if the first field is blank then 'float'". I see nothing unusual in the frx.

My work around was to check for blank fields and move content "up" into them.

I know there has always been an issue with "remove ine if blank" on a report form, but on labels??

Any thoughts?
