>I have a report where the detail band takes up most of the page. The report is intended to look like a project application form. The detail band has several line rectangles which wrap around a few controls to set their data off from the other data. The rectangles span the width of the page and are positioned so that the bottom of the upper rectangle and the top of the next rectangle are on top of one another therby dividing the page into sections for various types of data such as schedule, cost, etc.
>
>In the upper section of the detail band there are a couple of memo fields which are set to stretch to accomodate the text in the memo field. All of the controls below the memo fields are set to float so they will slide down the page as the memo field stretches. Everything works fine except the first rectangle following the memo fields. It does not float down although the data fields inside it and the other data and graphic features below it work fine.

I have been unable to discover what triggers the control to actually float down. Does anyone know the answer to this or how this problem might be addressed?

When this happens I find that more data than necessary is forced onto the second page leaving almost half of the first page blank. It almost looks like the report splits the data evenly between the first and second pages. I'd prefer that the first page be filled before it moves to the second page.

Try putting a rectangle stretching from the header of section (page/group) to footer of same section. Then use a single line at the seperation points.
