Well, when you put it that way! Amazing. How many programmers were you figuring into your cost for an experienced support staff? Even if only one, then a programmer would cost 62.00 US dollars/month? is that correct? how do people survive????

>Thanks Tracy for responding. $249 converted comes to approx. Rs.12,000/- a new P4 machine is costing about Rs.28,000/- an experienced support staff can be around Rs.3000/- a month incl petrol for transportation <g>.

>>I understand. We use FoxFix because at $249.00 you get the full fledged .exe to repair manually (one developer license) as well as the DLL which repairs on the fly and can be included in your distributed apps with no runtime charges. For us it is cost-effective. Our customers pay a subscription price for our product and having developers repair tables manually costs us money and manhours. The first few times FoxFix repaired tables on the fly at the customer's site it paid for itself. In the past two years we have only had to use the FoxFix exe once to manually repair a table--all other times the runtime DLL built into our app repaired the tables. There are other products that do the same thing or ones that other developers prefer. If you use foxpro tables at your customer sites intead of a more robust backend, those tools are worth looking into.

>>>Memo file corruptions is the main cause of corruption followed by shift of data corruption. I don't have foxfix and wouldn't be investing in the near future (economics, let the client take care of his own data as he wouldn't be willing to share the cost of saving his data, but if there is some little coding and I can get his data back I don't mind helping <g>).
>>>
>>>I was just hoping that there is a way to read memo files, when we get the message memo file is missing or bad. Basic record count errors I have a utility to handle that, but these to remains.
>>>
>>>>The memo data is readin fine. I guess I am not sure why you ask about memo fields specifically. Foxfix repairs memo fields (files) also.

>>>>>>Most often, foxfix can fix the table itself on the fly, that is why I like using it. For over 90% of the cases, Foxfix fixes the corrupted table on the fly onsite at the customer's location. Foxfix has a dll you can load in your app that when called will verify the table before opening it in VFP and that is how we do it. I know others like to use SDT...
