> What can I do to improve the performance of this communication?

Determine where VFP is putting its temp files. This can drastically impact performance, as I was reminded recently when developing some SQL queries against a remote Oracle database. On my workstation, large queries happened in seconds, when tested on a user several minutes. The local PC turned out to be low on disk space and badly fragments. Configure VFP to put its temp files where they can be processed as fast as possible. This may mean cleaning up the local PC, upgrading it, or even putting the temp files on the network, if that provides better performance. Use the config file read by VFP on startup to declare you location for temp files, and force it to be read when you VFP app starts.
