Thanks. Your explanation sounds perfect and explains why the report wizard occassionally puts invisible horizontal lines in the reports it generates. Only problem is it still doesn't work in my situation. Maybe it's a bug, I don't know. The rectangle loop in question extends across the entire width of the page. It's well beyond the width on both sides of the objects above it that are stretching. I've tried making it wider so that it is wider than everything else on the page and I've tried making it narrower so that it is within the shadow of the objects above. Also I tried the horizontal line trick with the line wider and narrower than the rectangle below it. Nothing seems to work except moving the rectangle 1 pixel down. Then it works fine. Other rectangles below this on don't seem to have the problem. I guess I can deal with it. It's mostly an aesthetic thing.

Do you have any clues as to how to control the breakpoint at which data spills over onto the next page when the items above stretch?
