All the north areas of Spain are really green and fresh (Bask Country, Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia, North of cataluña). The central and the south are very much dry but historically and artistically great. I think that, maybe after Italy, is the best europpean country to learn about the old continent history, culture and arts...

>I must've pass close to it a year ago - driving from San Sebastian to Madrid, and misreading the map, we were about 25 km from Pamplona when realized we took the wrong way. Some locals in a hwy parking confirmed it was shorter to get back to the main hwy through Bilbao taking some sh econdary roads... It wasn't easy, but then it was really quick. I still regret not going those 25 km to see Pamplona. The part of the Basque Country that we've seen was the only really green part of Spain - we saw the central area Madrid/Toledo - all red and dry, and then Castellon de la Plana - blue-green-grey...
