Actually, I beleive it is a parallel alternative to the fast food industry; ther meal is brought to the customer, providing a "home-cooked meal" conveniently to those that require it.
It is an efficient, analogue system that has worked for longer than I have inhabited this planet :) ...And provides delicious meals - I know!
