>Who would have guessed that the General Motors Pontiac Vibe model would be manufactured in a TOYOTA plant?

Jim;

You might get a chuckle out of this. We make the Pontiac Vibe, as well as the Corolla, Tacoma and Voltz. GM came to Toyota and said they had a concept. Toyota engineers made it a reality. The Vibe uses Toyota chassis, transmission and engine plus Toyota manufacturing concepts.

Next scene concerning the Pontiac Vibe. We wanted to sell the Vibe to Japan. The Japanese market is very concerned with total quality and would never (historical evidence) purchase a GM product, (add Ford and Chrysler). So in the same plant where we make the Vibe we make a right hand drive version called the “Voltz”. We then put a Toyota sticker on it and ship it to Japan. Sales have been good. There have only been two American built cars that succeeded in the Japanese market. The Toyota Avalon and the Toyota Voltz. Imagine we left the Pontiac sticker on the Voltz? What might happen? :)
