Of course you have to load the complete data into the virtual memory by performing a scan and/or do while before you have reliable results.
But as I said, these commands are not behaving like somebody else once said.
You still have to try and make performace tests yourself before you believe in somebodies results. Ex. Locate is always faster than ... or ... thats why I posted this message.
