I do know that for whatever reason, Sony has let its lead in television slip. I guess your brother found out why. The last time I bought a tv was 3 yrs ago, and everyone said get Sony. But they just announced their quarterly financials and electronic sales dropped like a rock. It seems Sharp is the one to buy now.

>My brother just bought a monster Sony television – as big as a wall! After one day it died! My new HP photo printer died right out of the box! Not to worry – a friend at HP told me the printer line abolished QC to reduce cost. They let the new owner test the unit. If it doesn’t work use your warranty!

>>It happens in the U.S. too. Many people assume if it was manufactured in Japan it must be better than a comparable or like product manuafactured in the U.S. And less expensive to boot.
