Normally, vfp can handle a great many users on large data without any noticeable performace hit, so that's not your basic problem, I can guarantee you. (assuming indexes are in place, etc.)

Can you test without any LOCKS at all (maybe just MULTILOCKS ON)? I never use locks, and my apps are always fast, so that's one thing to look at, amybe.

But we did have a recent HW problem where a router sort of gradually went bad, making apps run slower and slower until finally they just timed out altogether, trying to reach the server. No idea if this is affecting you, but just a mention...
