Nick;

Yes, we are overcrowded in some areas - those that are habitable and livable. By the way, what is grass? :)

>The USA overcrowded ! You should visit the Uk. There won't be any grass left soon.

>>>These days in our economy NO ONE is secure in their current job. Programmers I know that thought they were safe and secure in their positions have been laid off out of the blue and replaced with foreign nationals brought in to work cheaper or offshore developers. Some were receiving regular bonuses for exemplary development and support. There is no guarantee. It is even worse when the existing developers are expected to train the new developers and then they are laid off so the new developers can have their positions. It happens all too often...
>>
>>This brings us back to the point of "why continue to allow so many foreign nationals into the US, just to take IT and other US jobs" (yes, I know the answer is in areas like economics & political contributions.) But you'd think there'd be a point at which we, as US citizens, should say, "we have enough IT (and other industries) well-trained people here already."
>>
>>If I were the "out-party" (either one is about the same to me), I would nourish this job-problem, and flat-out overcrowding of the US, problem for all it's worth...done well, it could win elections (but we also don't want a "backlash" where people alreday here are tormented just because they were allowed to come here legally. Grandfather them in, and lock the doors, is basically my attitude (with possible exceptions for Russian nuclear scientists, etc. - security needs).
>>
>>I harbor no biases towards any reasonably democratic nations, and certainly not their citizens, who may dislike their gov'ts, much as many US persons do. And I have nothing against peoples of other nations wanting to better themselves, I would do the same in their shoes - but the long-standing US policy of "wide open door" and "give us you tired and hungry..." has got to slow down or outright stop.
>>
>>Not enough good jobs for US citizens, and what makes me especially grumpy is the plain overcrowdedness we have in much of the US already. The last thing we need is a lot more people coming here, IMO.
>>
>>Sorry, SET GRUMPINESS OFF now.
