I am a novice at Automation and COM Servers and trying to learn. Created a small Project for testing which contains one Class as shown in the docs under Creating Automation Servers. Through the Project Manager I built the Single-threaded COM server (dll) but did not register it.
Next I was reading elsewhere in Help regarding a VFP sample class item in /samples so I attempted to open the Class Browser... CRASH!!!
I get a dialog with OLE error code 0x80040154: Class not registered. OLE object is being ignored. Record number 4. OK or Cancel.
If I hit OK, I continue getting the same dialog with "Record number 5" then Record number 32, etc. At anytime if I hit Cancel, VFP crashes entirely.
I have tried re-starting VFP no effect. I have gotten a few other bizarre error dialogs mixed in, including the Microsoft invitation to upload the error Log to MS. I have tried moving the .dll elsewhere outside my VFP path. Finally I have registered the .dll successfully with RegSvr32 - however my Class Browser is still hosed.
W2K and recently upgraded to VFP 7.0 SP1. Is my VFP hopelessly corrupted? Must I now remove, and reinstall VFP entirely? Is this kind of crashing normal in 7.0 SP1?
TIA,
Brian Lee
