Thanks for the explanation, now my curiousity is satisified, anyway. And in a very small office, the risks are obviously a lot less than in a corporate environment. So, your question is not as bad as it first sounded. Most of us work and think in terms of much larger environments, where no one would even dream of something like that. But for your case, it doesn't sound so bad now. But keep those nightly backups going for insurance!

As an aside, and a little bit related, I've recently thought quite seriously about purchasing a low-end server for home use, rather than another desktop, now that prices are so low. I would prefer the much stronger server capabiliies over peer-to-peering, and a server could do double-duty as a workstation, anyway, of course. I don't care much for PtoP, though it's certainly more practical for those not accustomed to running servers, and made no sense before the relatively recent price-drop on servers (though server SW is still going to cost a few bucks).

Just an idea I'm mulling over...and I'm thinking it may be something we'll see more of in the future, for small home networks.
