>I have a table called cp_info which is used in the foxpro 2.6 program. I can open it in vfp 7.0. It has a field s_security of memo data type. When I double click on it, it opens the field in text format and shows the data. But problem is the data is non readable. It has large number of small square boxes like [][][][][]@auser etc... I know the program picks the data successfully from it. Is there any way to look at the data more clearly.

Does the data look correct in FoxPro? Perhaps you have a problem with the code-page.

If the memo is supposed to contain plain text, I suggest that in FoxPro 2.6, you mark the table with the correct code-page. This would ensure an adequate translation.

On the other hand, if the table contains binary data, the translation can give you trouble (a program might interpret the data incorrectly), so you should avoid translation for this field, at least for the program processing it. You might still translate for viewing, to get a more readable format. I think the function was cpconvert().
