Does the data look correct in FoxPro? Perhaps you have a problem with the code-page.
If the memo is supposed to contain plain text, I suggest that in FoxPro 2.6, you mark the table with the correct code-page. This would ensure an adequate translation.
On the other hand, if the table contains binary data, the translation can give you trouble (a program might interpret the data incorrectly), so you should
avoid translation for this field, at least for the program processing it. You might still translate for viewing, to get a more readable format. I think the function was cpconvert().
