Bob;
I have never deployed a new or revised application with the first release of a product regardless of what the marketing department or other employees of a company may say. What a terrible thing to state! Do not let my clients read this! Just one example – VFP 6! By the time SP 3 was released the major C5 errors diminished and SP 5 gave a stable product.
The most stable applications I have been involved with have been those, which we sold all software and hardware. We took nothing for granted! Network components, drivers, you name it! If you allow the IT department of a company or corporation to handle any aspect of your installation you are introducing a variable, which you may have no control over.
Additionally, having a great SQA department helps! You do not want to hear the client tell you , "we found a problem".
In the real world many applications are loaded on servers and client machines using an existing infrastructure. We have had to deal with bad existing network cables, politics and many other issues. There is so much more to successful software deployment than writing code. :)
Hopefully the reason for your problem will be found and resolved. I have eight years of code out there using Requery.
Remember the problems with VFP loosing data with Windows 2000 when it first was released? So many variables! Add Netware, etc. and you have so much potential fun.
Tom
