In the name of expediency, I simply re-created the table; re-ran INSERT with SELECT, and it worked 2nd time (all 7,899 records INSERTed).

I will remember your suggestions for future table pre-loads.

I have had NO other major problems with VFP8 on NTWS4, so that baffles me, but is very possible.
