I don't understand it either. I was wondering if it had something to do with a codepage or something. I realize that there should be no difference in the results of the table created in vfp or fox 2.x, but there is.
Maybe I should give more background on the program itself. I issue a select- sql that pulls data from a clipper, and then copies that data to another clipper/dbase III table. The same program is run in fox 2.x and vfp yet in vfp I get the funky characters in the memo fields. I've tested it several times. -Rick

>There is something wrong here. "Copy to .. type foxplus" creates dbf and dbt just fine. No mess up in memo and no extra chars. Maybe one thing, dBase use softcarriage returns and FP doesn't (each line end with chr(13)+chr(10), CR+LF). And there is no difference in FP 2.x and VFP memo structures.
