I also had problems with some HP LJ and Epson Inkjet (gpf) and posted a message about it titled "FYI: GPF and alike". In replies to that message there were other having the same problem with HP and Epson drivers. Some are corrected by obtaining the latest drivers from HP site (no solution for Epson yet).
BTW: For HP maybe the worst solution is to use Win95-shipped HP Laserjet driver for all HP series (if also have font problems).
