It is just a select statement which forms the cursor and then the cursor is the recordsource to the grid.

Are you absolutely positively without a doubt sure that no filters are in place? Did you use the NOFILTER clause in your SQL SELECT? If not, it may be that VFP simply created a filtered view for you instead of a 'real' cursor with a disk presence.
