We have done this in the past in two different ways: Some sheet fed dot matrix preprinted forms were switched to laser forms (like draft checks, contracts, etc). We went from using @...say reports to using the report writer and thanks to Sergey's help during a very stressful day (you know the ones that come along now and then) when I couldn't think of anything obvious let alone not so obvious, we set the page settings to whole page instead of printed page and they work-even on GDI printers with smaller printable areas like the Lexmark. Some forms we actually created ourselves in the report writer or using RAVE ( a tool for Delphi) but those had to go through an approval process. Many developers like Cystal Reports for this. I do know this, if there is a complicated report that must print the same everytime and be 'standard' (we run into this all the time in the insurance industry) get a good tool for the job to save you time down the road. You don't want to do it the 'vfp way' if you have multiple detail bands for instance unless it is only one or two reports. Modifications down the road are almost as difficult and time consuming as the original setup of the form in vfp report writer. Even if you have a LOT of reports to create, get a good tool before you get started. If you do end up using vanilla VFP, always test the form on a laserjet that has a small printable area (like the Lexmark Z23 or Z33 for instance which is cheap to keep around for testing purposes) so it prints on all laserjet printers (GDI and non-GDI).

>I need to move toward printing laser forms to replace preprinted multi part fill in forms (Legal contracts, state documents, etc.). I am completely in the dark about what software to use both to create the forms and to have users print them. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.
