I personally think this is the 'cheaper' solution. In order for you to get several computers/dozens/hundreds/whatever to use a faxing solution in software, you will have to ensure that all are installed the same. I have seen this work in one place where they have hundreds of workstations, but they had very similar workstations that were installed exactly the same and checked daily (automatically) to ensure that no other outside software was installed. Even then, it takes several network admins to keep things running smoothly.

What's not proprietary about using Microsoft's fax software?

The argument of it being cheaper because you don't have to buy a piece of equipment is not reasonable... it might cost you a lot more over a year to maintain.

Just $.02.

>(This is not my decision - I definitely don't believe in doing things on the cheap or not using 3rd party libraries or all of this stuff, but these are the rules I'm having to work to).
