The menu item is calling a form method, which in turn calls the click event of the command button. (sorry, didn't make that clear)

There's no code in the valid event of the textbox.
In the lost focus there is plenty, but the value of the textbox has changed before the lost focus fires.

I've also noticed that if the input 'overflows' the textbox ( max characters exceeded) then the value is not lost.
