>Hello, my name is Nancy Ramirez I am going to develop to a point of sale with visual basic.net, however I don´t know what database use, because that point of sale is going to work in each branch of way (monousuary) and that same point of sale from a server (for several users). Some friends have recommended to me to use oracle or pervasive. but If I use oracle , I should have a license for each branch?

If you shall use VB.net for POS front end development, the best choice for database is one of Microsoft databases. It will guarantee you stability and integrated solution with products from one company.
You can read article“Choose the right Microsoft database for development needs”
http://www.zdnet.com.au/itmanager/technology/story/0,2000029587,20276766,00.htm and to choose proper for your needs.
I develop POS applications with VB.Net, C# or VFP front end, and MSDE/SQLServer back end.
In this case for small companies with less that 5 working places I install free of charge MSDE. In big hypermarkets I install MS SQLServer2000. MSDE is cut SQLServer2000 with excluded customer services. I have done our own enterprise manager and very easy work with MSDE.
