>We're digressing from the topic of Sprint. Again, since we differ fundamentally on the ethical responsibility of corporations I see things differently, and we'll have to agree to disagree.

Well, Al, that's the crux of this whole issue and if you (and many others) have come to rationalize that morals/ethics play very little role in corporate decision-making it's no wonder that there's so much apathy around on this and related issues.
I stand firmly by my position that **ALL** humanity, in **EVERY** endeavour, is **EXPECTED** to put morality/ethics at the very **TOP** of their agenda. It doesn't matter if it is a corporate decision or a personal decision. Business has NOT been conferred special rights or privileges in society as regards ethics.

As regards your comments on my other items...
"Pushing the envelope" fits too. But there was a series of 3 TV ads back around the mid-80s where a simple task was constrained by a few stated rules. This made everyone on the crowd of 10 or so give up EXCEPT one person, who would step forward and do something 'innovative' to accomplish the task. The point was to 'invent' new techniques that did not breach the rules in effect and the catch-phrase in all 3 commericals was "Thinking outside the box...".
For 'Pursuit of Excellence' I did say "bastardized". The books definitely did NOT advocate ignoring ethics/morality. People who made bucks selling "training" courses based on the books definitely did, and I know because I attended 2 of them from 2 different outfits.
"TEAM" is from direct experience. In one specific case 7 (of 8, the other being the subject) rated a fellow as 'unhelpful', 'uncoperative' (un-everything of 'value'). 4 months later a significant promotion came up and everyone (not just the 7 raters) was aghast when he got the job. People who had been there a while (I was just a consultant, but to demonstrate their committment/sincerity to "TEAM" outsiders were included too!) talked about prior promotions having similar characteristics despite "TEAM" being in effect then too.

cheers
