Hi All:
In my company we use Arch Serve IT server to backup the data on Sql 7.0.
While the backup is running, I am told by our Network Admin not to modify any rows in a table; like inserts update of rows. The reason is that any inserts or updates to a table would cause the Sql server to write a logical record in a Transactions log file. This in turns cause the Arch Server IT to run longer or even fail. If updating rows in a given table causing Arch Server to prolong the backup process while Arch Server is backing up the data, is there something that I can do that would not hinder the backup process and still allows me to update the rows? Is there a way where I can prevent Sql from writting to transactions log file while allowing me to update rows?
Thanks
MA
