When writing java applets you don't need one line of script, your full controls & forms can be written in Java, without having to write a little java scrip a little c# etc. asp.net is not even 1 % as powerful as java why do people compare these two ?

ASP.NET is for creating browser-based applications. Windows Forms can be used for internet applications with a full rich client. I think you can also create .NET controls that integrate with your web pages, just like an ActiveX or Java control would, but the .NET framework would have to be on the user's machine.
