Yes I do, in a Windows 98 SE and a Windows Millenium, with the same result. When the instalation program show 6 seconds to finish it show a message (sorry, I can´t reproduce) saying me it can´t finish the instalation, and then show me how it uninstall (the progress bar go back), but when the process finished I can see the c:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server (c:\archivos de programa\Microsoft SQL Server in spanish) directory with files inside, but not MSDE in program files instaled.

Could be that #320873 don´t delete the MSDE name instances?

I solve the problem delete all the registry keys matches "SQL", "MSDE" and "TABIMED" (this is the instance name) in the machines. I know this is a dangerous action, but the machines are try machines, and no problem if the don´t works after my action.

After that, I can install MSDE without problem.

I use for search and delete the registry keys Lavasoft RegHance v2.1.
