Not necessarily in their address book. Some newer viruses also get addresses from other sources - such as the browser cache. That is, anybody who browses Universal Thread, not only people who regularly write you.
Another error (apart from opening the wrong attachments) is not to have the antivirus updated.

I got several of those, too. These messages are starting to get meaningless, with the new forging viruses.
20 messages x 100 KB = 2 MB - in a single day (and it might well continue growing). Quite a lot of bandwidth. Also, compare this with the storage quota of some free e-mail services. I wrote to the e-mail provider, suggesting they automatically delete certain viruses.
