Am I correct in assuming that calling the refresh method on a form does not call the refresh methods on each of the controls on a form?

I've defined an override for the refresh method in a control class and when I call the refresh method of the form the overridden refresh method on the control does not get called. I can call the overridden refresh method of the control directly.
