Here's a scenario:

You installed your VFP app in a non-recommended way, by copying the program and runtime files to a single directory. When the customer downloads the updated runtime files, they get installed in the proper location. Your program launches and uses the outdated runtimes in the program directory.

I'm not saying that's what you do...just one possible problem with the suggestion.
