First, I know exactly what you mean, I've had same problems too. One work around is to do an Excel OLE application in vfp and pull in the Excel contents without wizard, cell by cell if you have to. This method can virtually always be done, but can be quite tedious doing the vfp/vba coding for all cases, especially when individual cells have various special formatting, that's the worst case scenario to deal with.

Never heard of a free "tool" for what you want to do.

But we have plenty of vfp/Excel experts here. If you can post the exact attributes of the Excel column(s)/cells you are having trouble with, someone here may be able to give you a "free" answer, that is much simpler than my general non-wizard solution. (I've picked up much of my vfp/Excel import/export knowledge right here from observating various Excel threads. Cetin Basoz in particular is especially good at this, but there are others very good at this here also.)
