Actually, I am using GET command buttons with a READ CYCLE after them. These return a numeric value just like the @...PROMPTS did, so the coding changes are minimal. And the buttons paint instantly! This fixes my need for sideways navigation.

For top-down options I am sticking with DEFINE POPUP and it seems to be working great too. I am pretty pleased, though we are still using old-school stuff to fix an old-school problem. *smile* Had to find an old copy of Fox 2.6 just to get documentation on GET!
