The router I got has four ports. I plugged in the cable modem to the router, then each PC to the router. When I turned everything on, it just worked. No additional configuration, except for the wireless, which I had to turn on and add an encryption key.

You should be able to plug the cable modem into the router, then the switch into the router. Then, plug in each PC to the switch. That should be all that's needed, but then, I'm not a networking expert.
