One of the “gifts” the Silicon Valley has is the semi conductor industry – thus the origin of the name. For decades chemicals were dumped into the ground water – some very dangerous stuff. People sued IBM and many others for birth defects, and many health issues.

We use ground water to mix with water from Hetch Hetchy water from the Sierra Nevada’s. There are days when our water is white and days it is light brown with a stench you cannot believe! The water department says, “it is safe to drink”! Sure!

One entire community around Morgan Hill (a few miles South of San Jose) cannot use well water – their main source of water. It has been contaminated by a rocket fuel operation, gone for years. The county is bringing the residents bottled water.

A rocket fuel plant in Southern San Jose blew up a few days ago. I bet that is where the latest contamination is coming from. The blast was so loud it made the 6 o’clock news! The building was blown up into little pieces. It is right by hiway 101 and 85. The employees were not injured. They were hiding in a ditch while the chemicals were being mixed. Do you think that sounds like a safe operation? :)

>Our tap water is fine - probably better than in much of Europe. What's wrong with yours? DC water was questionable for a while there, and I don't know if they solved it.

>A plastic gallon jug of distilled water or generic spring water from a grocery is around $1 per gallon, but any name brand water in a glass bottle is much more.

>>The price you pay for Petrol is cheaper then our bottled water, but then you would not want to drink the stuff that comes out of our water taps! Perhaps we could run our cars from tap water? :)
>>
>>>over here its 82c, about 90USc per litre!!
>>>still think that you guys are better off than us, actually is petrol cheaper than bottled water there?
